DIY Custom Wedding Wine Labels

We had some friends who were getting married and we wanted to
make the wine bottles on their tables memorable.

I looked all over the web on how to remove existing wine labels to put
my own custom wine labels on. I wanted a method that was fast, preferbly
all the tools I had on hand and removed the labels leaving no trace of them.

This method worked beautifully. I included a step by step
process so you could see how easy this was. This really adds a class
of touch to any wedding or event. You could apply this technique for
any other celebration, unique dinner event or I even thought this
would make a cute gift =)

WHAT YOU NEED

2 Scoops of Oxi Clean
A Sponge with Scub side
Rag
Bath Tub or Large Basin
Wine Bottles (your choice)
Custom Wine Labels

STEP BY STEP

First You want to remove the labels from the bottles. I used Trader Jo's
Charles Shaw bottles for this project. The labels came off very easy
using these simple steps.

STEP 1
Fill Your Bath tub 1/2 way with Cool water. (REMEMBER: Temperature can
change the flavor of the wine so don't use warm or hot water.)

Then add 2 Scoops of Oxi Clean to the water. Using your hands agitate
the water so you mix the cleaning solution around. Then place your
wine bottles in the tub (They should sit so they head of the bottle is outside
the water. Then let your bottles soak for 45 minutes.

Step 1 - 2

STEP 2

Pull a wine bottle out to test if it has sat long enough by simply placing
your fingers on the edge of the wine label and peeling it off. It will not
peel off perfectly but as long as it's peeling it's ready. Use your sponge
to scrub away any excess glue and
your rage to clean up the bottle.

Although this seemed like a daunting task, it only took me
30 minutes to remove 36 labels.
The key is in soaking the bottles in oxi clean long enough so they remove easy.

Step 3

STEP 3
Wait for the bottles to dry off a bit before putting on the wine labels.
Otherwise the moisture may not allow them stick.

STEP 4

STEP 4
Place the Wine bottle so it is laying down in the center of your lap, so
sticking on the label will be easy. Using your custom labels Remove the
sticker backing and simply center it over the bottle and "viola" a
Your first bottle is done and just so cute =)

They really make a handsome pair ; )

  • CIRCLE CUTTER (I used Martha Stewart Cutter) or Scissors
  • Hole Puncher
  • Paint Marker I used (PRISMACOLOR) Metallic Silver
  • Silver Glitter Tube
  • Pencil
  • Glue (I suggest either Glue gun or a permanent glue
    with strong hold)
  • Sparkly Piping
  • Circle Crystals
  • 1 14x14 red card stock

STEP BY STEP:
  1. Cut out a 3 1/2" Circle Using your Circle Template or Scissors
  2. Cut out 1 1/2 Circles
  3. Punch 2 Holes in the center of the Large Circle (It will look
    like a button)
  4. Use your pencil to draw your chosen design on your circles.
(Feel Free to Freehand you design on and have some fun)
  5. Retrace your image with your Silver Paint Marker
  6. Using the Glitter Tube and large circle freehand small dots
    around design
  7. For the small circle put one small dot using the glitter tube
and add your Crystal to the center and push it down to adhere.
  8. After waiting 10 min to dry, string your piping thru the 2 holes
  9. To adhere the small circle on can be tricky if you don't have a glue
gun so I have an image to show what I did using a strip of paper
and glue. I ran a strip thru the piping and bent it over and glued it
to make a platform to glue the circle on.
  10. Glue the Small circle in center of the large circle.
